The Bell Rings for the Village School

Where are we?

For over 160 years, Itchingfield School stood on this site on Fulfords Hill looking down towards the Sussex market town of Horsham.  In 2015, however new facilities built in nearby Barns Green were opened and all the pupils were moved there.  The beautiful Victorian school buildings have stood abandoned ever since; the playing fields are now overgrown; there are weeds growing through cracks in the playground; and the windows boarded up as it awaits its fate.

Hopefully a good one.

One of my wonderful Instagram followers tells me she was a former pupil of this school: “When I was there, there were only 3 classes & outside loos. We were given the day off, one winter when the water in the loos froze!”
